"Her name is Elsepeth. She is the Portal Guardian. Long has she watched over the gateway and many are the number of those before her who stood, as she does, in a silent vigil.
Not since the war of T'Riun, over 800 years ago, has the portal been active. It was then that the hordes of demons poured forth from the gateway. The temple ruins in the distance serves as a reminder of those forsaken days.
Elsepeth hopes that she never knows the horrors of the old stories firsthand. But....it is her sworn duty to guard The Stone Portal, a privelage and an honor, so...she waits."
I came up with this concept years ago when I was thinking up a website for myself. I wanted a unique URL that somehow captured the essence of my passions for art, literature, gaming, etc.
The idea was less than original, but this is my version. A portal that leads to the unknown...other worlds, dimensions, anything you can imagine.
Anyway...here it is. Thanks for checking it out.
Credits:
-Character: Mesh from DM's Marlene. Texture, Pose and Sword from DM's Alina.
-Ruins in the background: DAZ Temple Ruins
Tool Chain:
-Hexagon - The Stone Portal (Ring and Dias)
-Poser - Character setup
-Vue - Scene setup and Render engine

Thanks! I did get the water idea part from Stargate. I had tried several center "effects", but nothing seemed to work very well.
I was actually going for something more fantasy than sci-fi in the look. My original concept called for a portal made of stone blocks, but as I started making it I decided that it was Elven in origin and they don't make "blocky" stuff. Their style is more clean, so I made the ring from a single piece of stone with a smooth surface and put glowing writing on it. In the end it wound up looking like a stone version of the Stargate. /sigh
I appreciate the feedback though and am glad you like it.
